Curtis Andrew Duncan 17/07/1986 – 01/09/2021
Curtis’ life may have been short, but it was large and filled with immense love and laughter.
He attended Strubenvale Primary School, where he completed Grade 7 as Head Boy. Curtis was personable and popular; teachers and peers still fondly remember him.
Curtis then attended Pretoria Boys High School. He thrived in School House Hostel where he respected the brotherhood and ethics, modeling them into adulthood.
He played rugby and cricket at school and remained a devoted all-rounder in his Old Boys cricket team. He was a proud member of his close fraternity and he valued the lifelong friendships that were formed.
Curtis loved sport, both spectating and participating. He established a social golf group which he managed with enthusiasm and skill. He looked forward to his weekly round of golf and was excited by the groups growth. In April 2021 he completed the 21km Drakensburg Ultra Trail – an achievement he was extremely proud of. He said “It was hard…I met Jesus on the route but it was worth it to finish.”
Being around people made Curtis happy. He valued honesty and honour and forged strong friendships with anyone who shared these values. He made himself available when friends needed him and would be overwhelmed by how many have availed themselves now.
Above all, Curtis was a family man. There was no virtue more important to him than the bond of family. He lived each day with the love for his family at the forefront of everything he did and he knew each of his short days on earth, as his family loved him, too.
