Duncan Christie (Town House, 1966 – 1970) passed away peacefully at his home in Nelspruit on 10 July 2014. He was a prefect and played 1st team rugby at PBHS.
On leaving PBHS, Duncan did a B.V.Sc at Onderstepoort. He then completed 2 years of military service on the Caprivi Strip, where he met his wife, Isabel. They moved to Grahamstown, where Duncan acted as a State Vet for a number of years.
Duncan then joined the Nelspruit Vet Clinic, where he was to spend his entire working life. His brother, Clive (Town House,1976), joined the practice some years later.
Duncan was an avid bird watcher and a convivial man, who was greatly loved and admired by all who knew him. I skyped him three days before his death and had a very pleasant conversation about his family and his plans to retire when he turned 65. Sadly, this is not to be.
He is survived by Isabel, his daughters Margot and Gina (married to Ryan Switala), his son Ryan (married to Monique) and grandson, Judah.
Information supplied by Clayton Christie (Arcadia House, 1968).
