Dear Old Boys,
I am writing to inform you of the passing of my dear husband Edmund John Krohn, who was (I think) at your school from 1947-1951.He was always very proud of his PBHS heritage, and followed alumni keenly over the years wherever he heard about them, from scholastic achievements to rugby teams etc. He was well known for his singing ability (e.g. Mabel etc., in Gilbert & Sullivan productions). He was related to the Retiefs, and Hasells, also PBHS boys. He was a keen pupil of Walter Battiss, and one of his best friends was Claude Beguin. (Switzerland). Tim Hill, Andy McQueen and the Gerard and Deon van Noord were friends.
He lived from 23.9.34 to 3.9.19 when he died from a sudden stroke, after 8 hours in hospital. A wonderful and loving man, very kind, witty, erudite (especially with his limericks) and great fun. He leaves behind his wife Judy, and his 3 daughters from his first marriage – Karen, Tracy, Belinda, and their husbands Mike, Justin and Richard, 7 grandchildren as well as stepchildren Meg (& Gary) and Richard (& Chantelle).
He lived the past 34 years in Somerset West after years in Elgin in the fruit industry (He did a B.Sc.Agric. at Stellenbosch, and M Hort. Sc at UCLA in the early 60/s). His two sisters Jenifer and Ann predeceased him. A life well lived. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be forever missed.
With good wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Judith (Judy) Krohn,
