He was born in 1935 and hailed from Windhoek, was a boarder in Rissik, matriculating in 1952. Gershon first developed his acting and singing talents in school productions of Gilbert and Sullivan’s and Shakespeare’s Hamlet. His artistic skills benefitted under tuition of Walter Battiss and he used these skills throughout his interesting and varied life. He leaves a sister Ruth Leppan in Wilderness, two daughters in UK and his partner Brenda in Cape Town. He died of cancer at age 80. A memorial service was held in Cape Town on 26th March 2015.
