Dad,

There is no one who had dealings with you who can say that they were not touched in some positive way. You were a character of many facets:

Henry who was full of energy and was always better than that or better than Johnny Walker born 1820 and still going strong. Henry the mathematical prodigy who could compute numbers faster than a calculator especially when it came to counting down the days to his 100th birthday which he started doing 8 years ago. Henry the joker who really liked a party , was always firston the dance floor, and loved to make people laugh. Henry the sportsman who played cricket for Southern Transvaal and then collected numerous trophies for tennis and bowls.Henry the electrician who was still working at 98 which is 78 years in the profession and was still respected as a leader in his field. Perhaps the most salient – Henry , the man with the extraordinary ability for endurance and hard work. In the last few months he maintained complete independence and would not even use a walking aid despite the ever increasing excruciating pain. He believed that succumbing to perceived weakness was tantamount to failing in executing the tasks he had been set to do. You didn’t reach your 100th birthday but in reality memories of you will live on far longer than that milestone that you so steadfastly sought.

May you rest in peace. All our love
