At tennis, the Old Boys beat the schoolboys 14-7 in matches. Tucker Vorster (2006) who currently plays for South Africa in the Davis Cup also competed on the day and shared his experiences from the Pro circuit with the boys! A good time was had by all!

The Chess Club enjoyed the morning very much and the results were as follows: 9 Games Played in a 60:60 Swiss Tournament.
Pretoria Boys High School won 3 games and drew 1 game therefore the final score was 3½ to 4½ making the Old Boys the winner by one game.

The late Gerald Andrew Cresswell’s South African Schools cap of 1946 was presented to Pretoria Boys High School by his family at Summer Sports Day. The cap will be displayed in the Sommerville Cricket Pavilion. Sadly Gerald passed away on 15 July 2014 but he can now be remembered and celebrated through this very generous donation.
Gerald Andrew Cresswell was Head Boy of Solomon House and joint Head Boy of Pretoria Boys High in 1946.
His accomplishments on the sporting field over the years were impressive to say the least.
A few of his achievements include: 1st team Cricket captain (1944-1946), Combined Schools (1944), N E Transvaal Nuffield Captain (1945 and 1946), SA Schools XI (1946), 1st XV Rugby (1945 and 1946), 1st team tennis (1945 and 1946) and School Shooting champion (1946).

OLD BOY NEWS
It all started at Boys High at the age of 14. It would be the first time ever playing rugby. Straight away I knew what I wanted and that was to wear the candy stripes and running out in front of a packed Brooks crowd against Affies. I managed to get that not once but twice. What an honor it was for me to play 48 1st team rugby matches. Lucky for me it was only the beginning.
After school I moved down to Durban with Lee Thompson (SOL). Lee managed to make the U/21 Sharks side and me the U/19 Sharks side. I was lucky enough to play with great players such as Patrick Lambey, Marcell Coetzee , Cobus Reinach and Julian Redelinghuis to only name a few who are currently Springboks.
Our U/19 side of 2008 was the first U/19 Sharks side to win the U/19 Currie Cup in the history of the Sharks. It was really special to walk the halls of Kings Park where our very own John Smit walked and where he is currently CEO.
From Durban I moved to Cape Town to pursue my career at Western Province. Unfortunately, I was playing for my club side in Cape Town and tore the ligaments in my knee which happened to put a very big hold on my rugby career. Hopefully I will be back on the field soon.
If it weren’t for Boys High I don’t think I would have made the Junior Sharks sides and been able to move to Cape Town to play rugby. My blood will forever be red, white and green and it truly was where I learnt to live.
