OLD BOYS’ WEEKEND 2016

Dear Old Boy

The Annual Old Boys’ Dinner will take place on Saturday 4 June 2016. This will be the first Dinner held in the newly completed Abernethy Hall and promises to be a memorable event.

This guest speaker this year is award winning Wildlife Photographer and Old Boy, Greg du Toit (1995) who will also be selling autographed copies of his books.

Highlights in Greg’s career include undertaking a three-month project that entailed camping in the remote north of Kenya, where he lived alongside local Samburu tribesman and got to experience their culture first hand.

Another special time for him was the extensive undertaking to photograph the remote region of Kenya’s southern rift valley, home to the traditional Loodokilani clan of the Maasai tribe.

While in Kenya, Greg also undertook to photograph nomadic free ranging lion, which eke out a precarious existence beyond formal park or reserve boundaries.

Greg has also, over the last couple years, spent a total of twenty-two months in the deep south of Tanzania where he set out to document one of Africa’s largest and truly wild wildernesses. He was also commissioned by the BBC Wildlife Magazine to assemble a groundbreaking portfolio on African leopards. This project lasted three years and saw him spending over 600 hours in the field photographing wild leopards.

National Geographic Expeditions have contracted him as an Expedition Manager to lead their ‘Southern Africa by Private Air Expedition’ and he has been invited to speak as far afield as northern Finland.

Wingate Park Country Club is known for its tall gum trees, pines and other indigenous species which give excellent definition to the holes on this enjoyable and busy parkland layout, located in the south-eastern suburbs of Pretoria.
