I am writing to inform the Association of the untimely passing of James Crawford Thomas, Old Boy class of 1993 on the 1 August 2024.
James was a Chartered Accountant and had been a partner at Ernst & Young (EY) in Johannesburg before he recently left to pursue other opportunities and had started his own consultancy business. James was my counsellor and my direct reporting manager at EY during the time I was with the firm.
He was very generous with his time to people who worked on his teams. Generally, a reserved individual, James loved being part of a group of people and was very comfortable striking up conversations with people he had never met.
He is survived by his wife Marcel and brother who resides in Scotland – (submitted by Graeme Hedding 1998, Rissik)
