Robert Charles Murray, age 68, passed away peacefully on 19th May 2026 in Nelspruit, after suffering a stroke caused by a blood clot to the brain.
Born on 23rd June 1958 in Pretoria to Ion (Dollar) and Caroline (Kay) Murray. Dollar also attended PBHS.
Robert lived a life full of laughter, generosity, adventure and devotion to family and friends alike.
He graduated from PBHS in 1976. In his final year, he was part of the England hockey tour.
After his compulsory period in the Army, he went farming in Hazeyview. He then went on to spend years running his own successful MTN franchise business in Nelspruit, which became a popular destination for friends and family to spend some enjoyable times. He was known for his dedication, work ethic, humour and loyalty.
While Rob took pride in his work, his true passion was his life outside of it. He enjoyed the sports he participated in, especially hockey. He was also an avid Blue Bulls supporter.
Above all, Rob loved his family. He was a deeply devoted brother, a proud father of three fantastic girls and seven grandchildren. He was a loyal friend. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by:
• His siblings – Sheila, Sue, Verna, Yank, Haldane and Sieska
• His children, Vannessa, Linda and Jenna Leigh
• His Grandchildren – Michael Bakker, Lucca Bakker, Peterjie Bakker, Amalie Bakker, Ella Bakker, Kingsley Lennox and Summer Lennox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ion (Dollar) and Kay Murray – from Ion (Yank) Murray
