Willie Oosthuizen, died under tragic circumstances on the 7th of August 2013. He was a hugely popular and much-loved member of the Class of 2009 as attested by the massive attendance by members of his class at the funeral on the 13th of August. Willie was an outstanding hockey player and received full colours for hockey in his matric year.
The funeral service was a true celebration of his life which, judging from the eulogies of a number of his classmates, was one filled with fun, laughter and not a good bit of Boys High naughtiness. The Old Boys present were invited to sing the School Song, James Orr, piped the coffin out of the chapel with Highland Cathedral and as the hearse moved away, the large congregation was invited to release hundreds of green, red and white balloons.
This was a very sad but once again, a special Boys High occasion which made me very proud. As always the support from the boys for the bereaved family and friends was overwhelming.
